LEGACY F.A.Q.

What is Legacy?

Legacy is an event we have created to spark intentional conversations in your family about how you will be raising your child, and how that lines up with God’s plan for parenthood. It is a commitment ceremony/baby dedication that is a way for you to publicly declare that you are pledging to raise your child to show them the love of Christ.

What isn’t Legacy?

Legacy is not baby baptism. We do not sprinkle or dunk your child in water during this event. Legacy does not equal salvation for your child. We believe salvation is a personal relationship with Christ, and that your child can make that decision to follow God as they get older and more mature in their faith.

What is the prep work for Legacy?

Before the Legacy event, we send each family some “homework”. There will be two short videos for you to watch, as well as a few questions for you to discuss and answer as a family. These questions are designed to get you thinking about how you can make your walk with God an example for your child, and will help your family develop core values you want to instill in your children. There are no “right” or “wrong” answers to these questions, and no one will see them but your family.

What happens at the Legacy event?

On the day of the event, each family will be seated at a round table with 10 chairs to sit at. We encourage you to fill your table with people who will be influential in your child’s life; these people could be grandparents, aunts and uncles, some members of your Small Group, or your best friends. The speaker at the event will discuss the questions from the stage, then will give you time to share your answers with your friends and family at your table. At the end, the speaker will pray over all the families.

How long will the event last?

We try to keep the event under two hours, start to finish.

Is there food?

Yes, there will be light refreshments, as well as coffee and water.

What should we wear?

PC3 is a casual church, so feel free to dress comfortable and casually. We always see a wide range of dress, from Sunday Best to casual and comfortable, so you can choose to wear whatever you desire.
